The unification of electricity and magnetism refers to the discovery that electric and magnetic forces are not separate phenomena, but different aspects of a single force: the electromagnetic force.

→ This is why a changing magnetic field creates an electric field and a changing electric field creates a magnetic field.

Electromagnetic radiation exhibits wave properties as it transfers energy through space. It has both electric and magnetic field components which oscillate in phase, perpendicular to each other and to the direction of energy propagation.
